The Suppression Machine
In collaboration with United for Iran and their groundbreaking Iran Prison Atlas project, The Suppression Machine exposes the intertwined mechanisms of judicial oppression within the Islamic Republic of Iran. This series delves into the direct links between judges, prosecutors, prisons, and the systemic violations of justice that enable extrajudicial acts like torture, denial of legal representation, and isolation of prisoners from their families.
Each episode unpacks the machinery of repression by profiling the shadowy figures behind it—judges and prosecutors who operate in obscurity yet play central roles in silencing dissent. By revealing their names, roles, and even where they are based, whether in small towns or major cities, this series aims to inform and empower viewers with the truth about the architects of injustice.
Through the lens of a prominent political prisoner’s case, we highlight how judicial complicity perpetuates widespread oppression. This series not only shines a light on the courage of those who resist but also provides a detailed look at the interconnected system that sustains authoritarian control in Iran.
