Nowruz 1405 A Short Film

NOWRUZ 1405 is a music-video-style portrait of a Nowruz unlike any other — the first in 37 years to fall without the man who had ruled Iran since 1989. Portraits came down. Streets that had learned to whisper let themselves shout. Amid an unfinished war and a silence where a new Supreme Leader’s voice should have been, something older than fear moved through the crowds: relief.

Shot and cut as a single unbroken pulse, the film sits inside that charge, grief for a country still at war, held against the sheer, disbelieving lightness of watching a dictator’s name become the past tense.

Nowruz always asks you to begin again. In 1405, Iran finally got the chance.
